The following closures are long-term closures on major bikeways across the city.
Central closures
The North Quay lift, adjacent stairs and ramp will be closed during lift upgrade works, with a temporary detour in place.
The detour will guide pedestrians and cyclists to alternative lift, stair and ramp access. Works will take place from mid-August until early November 2026.
Please follow the direction of signage.
North closures
Sections of bikeway and footpath along the Kedron Brook Bikeway have been impacted by erosion.
The Kedron Brook Bikeway remains functional with some minor diversions and temporary mesh fencing in place around the eroded footpath until rectification work is completed.
The bikeway will be closed at Balun Park, Newmarket from 7 to 10 September. These works will improve and smooth the pathway surface for users. Signage is onsite and bike user groups have been advised.
The bikeway will be closed at Shaw Estate Park, Wavell Heights from 9 to 11 September. These works will improve and smooth the pathway surface for users. Signage is onsite and bike user groups have been advised.
South closures
The central pathway in Les Atkinson Park, connecting to Wolff Street, is closed for community safety following erosion from significant rain events. Council is investigating this location to confirm next steps for local connectivity.
Please use the suggested detour route around the outside of the park, along Beenleigh Road and Stones Road or Wolff Street (behind Jim Murdoch Oval) when travelling to and from the train station.
East closures
Council is upgrading a section of the Bulimba Creek bikeway within Preston Road Park to smooth the existing path.
Works will take place from 31 August to 18 September 2026, stop for the school holidays and recommence from 13 October to 19 November 2026 (weather permitting).
