Cancel your dog’s registration online if your dog has passed away, been surrendered or is no longer living in Brisbane.
When to cancel a registration
You can cancel a dog's registration if your dog:
- has passed away
- is no longer living in the Brisbane local government area
- has been surrendered.
You must provide the:
- registration reference
- dog’s name
- reason for cancellation.
Provide your contact details, such as:
- name
- phone number
- email address.
Frequently asked questions
If you have sold your dog and the new owner lives in Brisbane, you can transfer your remaining registration period to the new owner.
You can cancel your dog’s registration if your dog has passed away. You may be entitled to a 50% refund of the registration fee.
If you have an animal permit, you may also need to amend your permit conditions.
Unfortunately, Council doesn’t accept dog registration cancellations via email.
