Why Alderley Centre?

Alderley is considered one of Brisbane’s most liveable suburbs, home to parks and a vibrant community. We are working on a precinct plan to revitalise the centre to take advantage of connections to Alderley railway station and local destinations, including Sedgley Park and Newmarket Pool.

With established commercial areas and infrastructure already in place, it presents a strategic opportunity to deliver mixed-use development that enhances housing diversity and the local economy. Renewal of the centre will also support improved walkability, better public spaces, and more vibrant main streets

Community consultation

Community consultation on the draft Alderley Centre Suburban Renewal Precinct Plan was open from 13 July to 30 August 2026. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

Council is now considering community submissions and will prepare a final plan.

Following a review of submissions, Council will also write to everyone who has made a properly made submission on the proposed changes and will publish a copy of the consultation report online.

If adopted, the final plan will form part of City Plan, our local planning scheme that is used to guide and assess future development.

How the plan is developed

We're using planning studies, community input and Queensland Government feedback to develop the plan. The current phase of the project is the review of community submission to help refine the draft plan.

Once it has gone through relevant stages, it will be adopted into Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) and used to guide and assess property development.

• Mid-2025: Background research and technical investigations.
• Late 2025: Initial community feedback through survey and drop a pin map.
• Mid-2026: Community and Queensland Government consultation on the draft plan.
• Late 2026: Review feedback received during public consultation and preparation of the final plan.
• Early to mid-2027: Council and Queensland Government approval of the plan, and its adoption and gazettal by Council into City Plan.
